Description

Day 1

Excursion to the Open Air Museum of Ethnography, which occupies 52 hectares of land and houses more than eight thousand artifacts from all over Georgia. A walk along central avenues of the city (Rustaveli Avenue and newly renovated Agmashenebeli Avenue); Sightseeing tour in Old Town (Abanotubani – the ancient part of the city, known for its sulfuric baths, Meidan square – the place where the Georgian Orthodox Church, Mosque, Synagogue and Armenian Apostholic Church are located several meters away from each other, Metekhi Church, Sharden Street with its wine cellars, cafes and art galleries). Waterfall in Leghvtakhevi ravine, Anchiskhati, the oldest surviving church in Tbilisi, a quirky clock tower next to the Gabriadze Theater. Excursion to the National Museum of Georgia, which houses a gold collection of valuable finds belonging to different periods and epochs. Participation in Tbilisoba festivities, food and wine tasting, open air concerts. Overnight in Tbilisi.

 

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel.

Sameba Cathedral – Holy Trinity Cathedral – the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world. Take a cable car to the Narikala Fortress and funicular railway to Mtatsminda (Holy Mountain). Participation in Tbilisoba festivities.

Departure to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia. Jvari Monastery, located on the top of the mountain at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. Svetitskhoveli Cathedral which is known as a place where Christ’s robe was buried. Both Jvari and Svetitskhoveli are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.A brief walk along picturesque streets of Mtskheta. Drive back to Tbilisi.
