Description
Day 1
Arrival in Kakheti, Ujarma Fortress (III-IV cc), Shuamta Monastery Complex, ancient academy of Ikalto, where according to a legend the famous 12th century Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli studied; Alaverdi Monastery (XI c), recommended lunch at the “Matsoni House” near Alaverdi, where you can taste the wine made in Alaverdi Monastery, Museum of History and Enthography and Batonis-Tsikhe Fortress in Telavi, a walk to the 900-year old giant plane tree. Overnight in Telavi.
Day 2
A house-museum of Alexander Chavchavadze and park in Tsinandali, royal fortress of the XVIth century Gremi, a brief walk along the Kvareli Lake, lunch, master classes of churchkhela and khinkali making, wine and chacha tasting in the “Wine Tunnel” which is the Winery Khareba wine cellar (in case of economy package tasting of 2 wine types); Signaghi sights, Overnight in Signaghi.
Day 3
Excursion to Signaghi Museum which has interesting exhibits on Kakheti archaelogy and history and 16 paintings by the great artist Niko Pirosmani, Bodbe Monastery, lunch with tasting of home made wine at the family restaurant-winery. Departure to Tbilisi.
* During this tour you can participate in Rtveli (a process of picking grapes and making wine), from 01.09 to 10.10.
