Description

Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi. You will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel. You will begin by sightseeing in the capital of Georgia – Tbilisi. After breakfast, you will visit the ancient districts and historical places. A cable car will take you to one of the most beautiful mountains in Tbilisi, where you will see the symbol of the city – the Kartlis Deda monument. After that, you will walk down to the Narikala Fortress to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic city views. Then you will visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral – the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 2: After breakfast you will drive to the famous resort of Borjomi, one of the most beautiful places in Georgia, where you will enjoy stunning local nature and taste the famous Borjomi mineral water. En route you will visit Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will make another en route stop in Gori, where you will visit the Stalin Museum, which incorporates the tiny house where he was born and his personal train carriage, in which he made his famous journeys to Tehran, Yalta and Potsdam. In Borjomi  you will take a walk in the local park. A cable car will take you to the Borjomi Plateau and its beautiful views of the town. Overnight in Borjomi.

Day 3: After breakfast you will drive to the medieval cave city of Vardzia in Southern Georgia. This was built in the XII century, during the reigns of King Giorgi III and his daughter Queen Tamar. Then you will go to Akhaltsikhe and visit the Rabat Fortress. You will find churches, a mosque, various shops, hotels and even a civil registry office inside the fortress walls. Then you will set off to Kutaisi, the second city of Georgia after Tbilisi. After checking-in to the hotel you will take a walk through the old part of the city.

Day 4: In the morning you will visit Bagrati Cathedral, which is included in the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List. It was built in the 11th century, during the reign of King Bagrat III. Then you will drive to  the Prometheus Cave, which is not far from Kutaisi. This is one of Georgia’s natural wonders, and includes various types of stalactites and stalagmites. After that you will continue to Okatse Canyon, the natural monument of Imereti. Then you will drive to Samegrelo and stay in the hotel of Zugdidi.

Day 5: After breakfast you will drive to Mestia, the main town of Svaneti, where you will visit the Museum of History and Ethnography, which contains a unique collection of icons, ancient gold coins, etc. You will also visit the village of Ushguli, which is the highest inhabited village not only in Georgia but in Europe. It is situated 2,200 metres above sea level. You will visit churches, protective towers, monasteries, get acquainted with local families and see unique examples of medieval craft-work and icons.   Overnight in Mestia.

День 6: After breakfast you will visit the ski resort of Hatsvali and enjoy beautiful views of the mountains. Then you will have the time to take a walk in the streets of Mestia. Dinner at the hotel.  Then you will drive to Zugdidi.   Overnight in Zugdidi.

Day 7: After breakfast you will visit the graceful palace of the Dadiani princes and continue on to Adjara to visit Batumi, a popular tourist destination on the Black Sea coast. You will spend 5 days and 4 nights in Batumi and its surroundings.

Day 8: This day you will spend in Batumi. After the cool weather and snowy mountains of Svaneti you will have the opportunity to go to the beach to relax, swim in the warm sea and sunbathe. Most of the day will spend on the picturesque beach. In the evening you will go sightseeing and gain your first impressions of the city.   Overnight in Batumi.

Day 9: You can spend the whole morning on the beach. Then you will visit the Gonio Fortress. This is the oldest fortress in Georgia, located 2 km from Batumi in the village of Gonio, near the border with Turkey. It was built in I-II cc. Then you will go to the Batumi Botanical Gardens, where various species of the most rare and beautiful plants are collected. In the afternoon you will be on the beach. After dinner you will take a walk in the Boulevard (Seaside Park), a favourite place of recreation for both the locals and the numerous tourists, and listen to live music. Overnight in Batumi.

Day 10: After breakfast you will again go to the beach and spend the morning there. Then you will drive to the picturesque mountainous region of Adjara. You will be greatly impressed by its untouched nature, high mountains, fresh air, waterfalls, tumultuous rivers and wooden houses. You will visit the Adjaran Wine House and taste the local wine and delicious dishes. Then you will visit the Makhuntseti Waterfall and Arched Bridge of Queen Tamar. In the evening you will return to Batumi.   Overnight in Batumi.

Day 11: The morning of the last day in Adjara you will spend on the beach. Then you will depart for Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Late in the evening you will check in to the hotel.   Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 12: This day will be spent in Tbilisi. You will take a walk in the streets, buy souvenirs, visit the Open Air Museum of Ethnography and Museum of Modern Art. Then you will ascend Mt. Mtatsminda by Funicular railway and enjoy stunning views from the top.   Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 13: You cannot leave Georgia without visiting the Kakheti region, the cradle of Georgian wine-making. You will drive to Telavi and visit the Ikalto Academy, built in the XI century, where the famous Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli studied. You will then visit Alaverdi Cathedral, the second tallest cathedral in Georgia after Holy Trinity in Tbilisi. Then you will visit the private “Twins Wine Cellar” winery in Napareuli village and its museum of traditional Georgian winemaking in “Kvevri” (enormous vessels buried in the ground). Here you will have the opportunity to taste wine produced on the spot. Then you will return to Telavi. After checking-in to the hotel you will stroll along the beautiful streets of Telavi and visit the Palace of Georgian King Erekle II. Overnight in Telavi.

Day 14: After breakfast you will depart for Tsinandali, one of the most beautiful places in Kakheti, where you will visit the house-museum of Aleksandre Chavchavadze, a notable Georgian poet and public figure. Aleksandr Griboedov (Chavchavadze’s son-in-law) and other famous people have visited this place, and the Treaty of Georgievsk, which confirmed the friendship between the Russian Empire and the Georgian Kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti, was written here. Then you will continue on to Sighnaghi, the city of love, where you will enjoy an outstanding view of the Caucasus Mountains and the Alazani Valley. In the evening you will return to Tbilisi.  Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 15: Departure from Tbilisi.

Inclusions: accommodation based on double/twin room sharing at hotel 3* BB 14 nights, all transfers as per itinerary, sightseeing tour program with a local English speaking guide, wine tasting, master class in bread baking and “khinkali” making, entrance tickets to sights, horse/boat rental,  transfer from/to Tbilisi International Airport .
